2 Days Masindi Religious Tour

Located in the Midwestern part of Uganda approximately 216 kilometers from Kampala the capital of Uganda, this district is profoundly blessed country that its an entry point to the oldest and largest Murchison falls national park dissected with the longest Nile river forming the most vigorous and powerful Murchison falls.
Religiously, Masindi is endowed with historically remarkable destinations that include the Polish church, cemetery and others spread all-over the its boundaries. The 2-day itinerary takes you to explore the faith-based tourism destinations in this district, immersing you into an untold history of the unfolding of events.
Summary:

Early in the morning, you will embark on road drive towards the Kampala – Gulu highway heading to the Masindi town. You will have stopovers in Luwero and Kafu for roadside snack.

At 13:00 hrs., you will arrive to Masindi town and proceed for lunch at a pre-booked hotel.

After lunch, you will proceed to Rwengabi Hill, for hike and get some powers where necessary.

Later return and head to Polish heritage sites, these include a polish church which was built in 1943 by wives and children of the men who were taken for world war, the European cemetery which has the tomb/ grave of Pope John Paul II’s aunt. This is historically packed with literature that is worthy hearing. These heritage sites are located in Nyabyeya part of Kinyara sugar plantation in Masindi district.   You will also visit the European cemetery where the graves of the Scottish Margache Family are found. Lastly within Nyabyeya is Nyabyeya forestry college which in the days used to be the Polish historical administrative blocks. After religiously exploring polish heritage sites, you will retrieve back to Masindi for dinner and night rest.

Wake up early, have breakfast and then check out heading to Uganda Martyrs’ church where Catholics in Masindi gather every 3rd June to commemorate the Uganda Martyrs as they proceed from Namugongo -Kampala.

 

After you will also visit Mary hill pilgrimage site in Murro, a spot believed to have been appeared by the Virgin Mary as her foot is marked on the rock. Also, this place every 31st December gathers over 1000 Christian believers for a new year’s Passover service.  This richly phenomenal place also gets you to do some hiking.

 

After the exploration of Mary Hill Pilgrimage site, you will proceed for lunch and then embark on a journey to Kampala arriving early evening.
